Mile Square Summer Reading kicks off The Hoboken Public Library will begin its Mile Square Reading Program on Saturday, June 11, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Church Square Park.
The day will include several events including the Lizard Guys at 11 a.m., where guests can check out lizards, snakes, turtles, frogs, and bugs.
The event is for ages five and up and you can register here .
The Hoboken Kids Craft event takes place at noon with Hoboken-themed crafts and coloring activities.
All ages are welcome.
A Bubble Dance Party will follow at 1 p.m. where kids can play with bubbles and dance to story-time songs.
The Teen Field Day for ages 11 and up will have games, challenges, and prizes from noon to 2 p.m.
The day concludes with a performance by the Demolition String Band at 2 p.m.

ParkMobile App expands services in West New York ParkMobile, an app-based service that allows users to find and reserve parking spots from their phone, will be expanding throughout West New York with the goal of making parking contactless, faster, and easier.
Users pay for their parking directly from their parking spot by logging into the app or by texting the number found on the closest street sign.
This reduces long lines at pay stations and comes on the heels of West New York Parking Utility’s “Parking Green Initiative’' aimed at making more of their services available online and contactless.
The app also has a “Find My Car” feature and in-app and emailed receipts.
ParkMobile signs will be installed throughout West New York soon.

Our Lady of Grace plans 5th annual Pride Mass Our Lady of Grace Church will celebrate its 5th Annual Pride Mass on Sunday, June 26, at 10:30 a.m. at the church at 400 Willow Ave., Hoboken.
This year’s theme is “An Eternal Truth: God Graces Each Life.” OLG’s annual Pride Mass celebrates the church’s LGBTQ brothers and sisters and moving toward a more inclusive church and society.
LGBTQ individuals, along with their families and friends, and all LGBTQ allies are welcome to attend.

Discover your waterfront Hoboken will be celebrating Discover Your Waterfront on Sunday, June 5, from 9 a.m. to noon at Maxwell Place Park and Hoboken Cove.
The morning will include free activities for all ages, sponsored by Resilience Adventures & FBW.
Events include music by James Calleo, environmental science activities at Hoboken Cove, art on the waterfront with Ann Marshall and Marni Fylling, oyster habitats with NY/NJ Baykeeper, a waterfront tour with FBW’s Ron Hine, and coffee and pastries by Choc-O-Pain.

NJCU Guarini Institute to hold international forum The New Jersey City University Guarini Institute for International Education and Economic Mobility will host an international forum, “Innovation and Security in Port Management in Israel and New Jersey,” on Wednesday, June 8, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
The event will be held at the NJCU School of Business located at 200 Hudson St., Jersey City, and is open to the media and the university community.

Participants in the forum on June 8 will include representatives from the business ecosystem in New Jersey interested in port management, cybersecurity, logistics and supply chain including members of chamber of commerce, incubators/accelerators, and trade associations.
Faculty from higher education institutions conducting relevant research are also invited to register for the forum.
The event is part of a three-day return delegation between partners in Israel and the State of New Jersey and builds on an economic mission trip to Israel in November 2021 mobilized by Choose New Jersey and the New Jersey-Israel Commission.
The purpose of the visit is to facilitate business partnerships between the delegates and the business ecosystem in New Jersey, and in particular with firms and agencies engaged in the management of local ports.
Additionally, NJCU and the Port of Ashdod will encourage collaboration between the Port of Ashdod and port-related businesses in the New York-New Jersey metro area.
NJCU will also work with the Port of Ashdod and use academic resources to develop educational and workforce development opportunities for NJCU students and the broader NJCU community.
June Kayak Eco Tours at Liberty State Park Visitors to Liberty State Park can explore the Hudson River Estuary by kayak starting Saturday, June 18, from 10 a.m. to noon.
Tours will embark from the canoe/kayak launch located at the south side of Liberty State Park near the Park Office and will highlight the local wildlife and habitats of Caven Point.
Trips will run for two hours and will include a brief safety and paddle instruction.
No prior paddling experience is required however participants need to be comfortable navigating in relatively deep water.
Life Jackets will be provided and are required.
This program is appropriate for adults and children 16 years and up.
Children 16 and up need to be accompanied by a legal adult.
Space is limited and pre-registration is required.

Hudson Pride Center Youth LGBTQIA+ Prom Invitation The Hudson Pride Center is hosting the LGBTQIA+ Prom on Saturday, June 18, from 4 to 7 p.m. for ages 15 to 24 at 161 Newkirk St., Jersey City.
Vaccination and masks are required for the event.
There will be a live DJ, photobooth, and a dance and vogue competition.

Concert to benefit Ukraine Cellist, composer and multilingual vocalist Ian Maksin will be performing in Jersey City for a concert to support peace in Ukraine on Wednesday, June 8, from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. at the Impress Ballroom.
Maskin will be singing in 30 languages including Ukrainian, Polish, French, Italian, Spanish, Yiddish while performing music from his latest release “The Alchemist,” along with new songs that have yet to be recorded.
