Georgia Sen. Emanuel Jones appointed to Economic Development, International Relations Study Committee - On Common Ground News
“Georgia has been a longstanding symbol of a prosperous economy and the top state in the nation to do business. With that, Georgia has continued to uphold strong relationships with international partners around the globe, providing sound economic growth opportunities while continuing to support local economies,” said Sen. Jones. “It is my hope that with this study committee, we will be able to uncover more advantageous opportunities to continue this growth and development not only on a local scale, but across the globe as well. I am thankful to Lt. Governor Geoff Duncan for appointing me to this study committee and I am eager to get to work for Georgia.”
The Senate Study Committee on Economic Development and International Relations was authorized by Senate Resolution 822, passed during the 2022 Legislative Session. The study committee will be composed of five members of the Senate, including the chairpersons of the Senate Appropriations – Economic Development subcommittee and the Senate Appropriations – Transportation subcommittee, the commissioner of Georgia Department of Economic Development or his or her designee, one non-legislative member (appointed by the Lt. Governor) with expertise in local economic development and the Lt. Governor (serving as ex-officio). The study committee will be responsible for evaluating the conditions, needs, issues and problems associated with economic development and international relations and reserve the right to recommend any action or legislation relative to the topic.
