Gross spending in the top-flight stood at £1.5billion with a week of the window remaining, exceeding 2017’s record of £1.43bn spent in a summer window.
It is also more than the £1.44bn spent in the whole of last season and, with the all-time record for a Premier League season standing at £1.86bn, it’s not out of the question that the summer window alone could surpass that mark.
Deadline day is upon us but we can expect the money to flow right up until the last minute.
The transfer market opened for business on Friday, June 10.
However, most international deals did not go through until Friday, July 1 including Erling Haaland’s move to Manchester City.
The window will then run until deadline day on Thursday, September 1 and will shut at 11pm in line with other European leagues.
