Clubs in the Premier League could struggle to land targets from the Eredivisie after the premature close of the Dutch transfer window.
Teams in the Dutch top flight had to finalise their incoming transfer business on August 31 due to an error from the country’s Football Association, KNVB.
This came as the KNVB told FIFA that their window would shut on the final day of August, not realising that the majority of Europe had opted for September 1 instead.
Despite appeals to world football’s governing body, FIFA have rejected the KNVB’s request for an emergency window extension meaning that clubs in the Eredivisie are now in a vulnerable position.
However it’s not necessarily good news for clubs in the Premier League.
With clubs in the Netherlands now unable to sign players, it means that they will be reluctant to lose their top stars on transfer deadline day.
That means less available players and, if they are to move on, then clubs will no doubt be demanding offers that are simply too good to turn down.
Manchester United have already wrapped up an £86million deal to sign Antony , but others might not be so lucky.
Cody Gakpo was heavily linked with a move to Southampton or Leeds in recent days, however it’s been PSV Eindhoven will no longer consider offers for the player.
Ibrahim Sangare has also been linked with a move away from PSV, with Chelsea keen on the midfielder.
Thomas Tuchel’s side are also considering a player from the Eredivisie with reports linking them with Edson Alvarez.
The Blues have offered £43million for the defensive midfielder, however Ajax are reluctant to let him go with the Dutch giants refusing to allow any more of their players to leave.
