Youth sports results are back on SILive.com and the Advance: How coaches can report

(Kara Buzga for Staten Island Advance) Kara Buzga for Staten Island Advance For decades, no paper in America covered youth recreation sports like the Staten Island Advance (and then later SILive.com).

From bowling scores to baseball to softball to ice hockey to basketball and every sport in between, the Advance reported most everything local coaches reported to the paper on a daily basis.

Now, after a three-year hiatus, SILive.com and the Advance will bring you all the youth sports news we can muster starting today. “Seeing my name in the paper when I was growing up and playing at Great Kills Little League was always a big deal,” said SILive.com Sports Manager Joe D’Amodio. “We got away from that here at the paper and now we want to bring it back so Island kids can feel the same sense of pride that their dads and granddads experienced when they picked up the paper.

Now, with the web, everyone can send the stories in an instant to their relatives and friends.” >> How to subscribe to SILive.com to see all your youth sports results. << But in order to bring you all the youth sports, we need your help!

That’s where the youth sports coaches of Staten Island come in.

Coaches of the winning teams are encouraged to email highlights and results to youthsports@siadvance.com soon after their games end.

Remember to include the league name, the two teams who played, when and where the game was played and then provide some highlights about the game by mentioning standout players and what they did in that particular game.

If the synopsis is more than a paragraph or two then that’s way too long.

And please leave a phone number in case we have to reach you.

Results must be typed out.

We will not accept PDFs or photos of result sheets.

Team photos are welcome, too, but we will only publish high quality ones on the web.

Photos will not appear in the newspaper.

In turn, an Advance sports reporter will compile and publish a weekly Youth Sports Roundup which will appear on Wednesdays on the web and soon after in the Staten Island Advance.

There is just one catch: The only way to read the Youth Sports Roundup on the web is if you are a subscriber to SILive.com.

If you aren’t already, it’s an easy process and should only take but five minutes by clicking on the link above or below.

If not, you can always read about your son or daughter or grandkids by picking up the newspaper at one of the many newsstands around the Island or get the paper delivered to your home. >> How to subscribe to SILive.com to see all your youth sports results. << So starting today, it’s time to report your youth results and highlight to youthsports@siadvance.com.
