Jun 14, 2022 Little League Baseball and Softball’s highest-level volunteers from around the world were honored for their service on Sunday during a luncheon ceremony at the Genetti as part of the 28th Little League International Congress in Williamsport.
Prior to Congress, each of Little League’s nine region directors had the opportunity to nominate one district administrator and one assistant district administrator from their respective region for this award.
The selected D.A.s are presented with the Little League International Meritorious Service Award while the A.D.A.s are presented with the Assistant District Administrator Little League International Commendation.
Both awards are only presented every four years at the Little League International Congress. “On behalf of all of us at Little League International, as well as the millions of players and volunteers that this organization serves each year, I would like to congratulate these committed individuals for their dedication to ensuring every child has an incredible Little League experience,” said Hugh E.
Tanner, Little League International Board of Directors Chairman. “Our District Administrators and Assistant District Administrators represent the highest level of volunteers within our program, and these well-deserving recipients serve as inspiring role models for future generations of volunteers to come.” The D.A.s who received the Little League International Meritorious Service Award were Derek Lisby, Indiana District 7 (Central Region); Carmine Conti, New Jersey District 7 (East Region); Dewey Hudman, Florida District 17 (Southeast Region); Michael Marler, Louisiana District 2 (Southwest Region); Milan Mrakich, California District 18 (West Region); Steve Mita, Japan District 1 (Asia-Pacific Region); Corinne Chow, Canada District 6 (Canada Region); Kehinde Laniyan, Nigeria Distrit 1 (Europe and Africa Region); and Edward Claude, Bahamas District 1 (Latin America Region).

Little League International, as part of the Susan Crown Exchange’s Million Coaches Challenge and in coordination with the Aspen Institute’s Project Play, announced the launch the pilot of the “Little League Diamond Leader Training Program.” The initiative is focused on educating volunteer coaches on their role supporting the social and emotional well-being of children and was announced Monday morning. “For the past year, we have been proud to work with the Susan Crown Exchange, Aspen Institute Project Play, and the entire cohort participating in the Million Coaches Challenge to provide coaches with these educational resources,” said Nina Johnson-Pitt, Little League Senior Strategy Executive. “The social, emotional, and mental well-being of our participants is critically important to us as an organization, and we are excited to launch this in-depth program to help provide our dedicated volunteer coaches with the guidance, resources, and materials they need to provide the best possible experience to the Little Leaguers in their community.” Focused on ensuring children have a positive, well-rounded experience on and off the field, the Little League Diamond Leader Training Program is a free educational resource that provides coaches with an understanding of the impact that mental, social, and emotional well-being has in youth sports through detailed information, interactive scenarios, and a variety of additional resources.
Officially set to begin with pilot testing across select Little League programs around the country starting in June, the Little League Diamond Leader Training Program will be a key resource for local leagues and coaches starting with the 2023 Little League season.
