Yes on Ashland measures For years Ashland tried to create a city manager form of government with a city manager.

That finally happened with a fine and experienced city manager.

He has quickly assessed critical city issues including budgets, revenue, staffing and organization.

He is moving to develop plans to correct these issues, including a plan to place Ashland Parks and Recreation and its employees on a firm financial and legal basis while improving the city’s general fund, and avoiding a 0,000 insurance premium increase.

To realize this creative and well-crafted plan, the voters must vote yes on Ashland measures 15-210 and 15-211.

Don Montgomery Ashland Krause can do it When fellow Commissioner Colleen Roberts led an anti-mask rally in front of the county offices, Rick Dyer said nothing.

When fellow Republican Alan DeBoer castigated the local Republican Party for immortalizing election-denying rhetoric in its platform, Rick Dyer said nothing.

Saying nothing is either tacit agreement or the lack of courage to openly disagree.

Rick Dyer may very well be the “nice guy” that has been depicted in letters to the editor by his friends, but he has not demonstrated the capacity to fight back against the extreme elements in his own party to be an effective leader.

Republicans are about one-third of registered voters in Jackson County.

We need a leader who can represent not only Republicans, but the independents and Democrats that constitute the other two-thirds of registered voters.

Rick Dyer has not demonstrated that he can do that.

Denise Krause can.

Dave Gilmour Central Point Holly Theater I saw a recent article in the Mail Tribune regarding the city of Medford debating a 0,000 grant to the Holly Theatre.

I have to say, I agree with Councilor Stine that giving them money should give us pause.

It should give us pause because they’ve been promising an opening for I don’t even know how long and here we are, as of Nov. 3, 2022, and I don’t think it has had a paid act yet.

I would certainly be willing to give taxpayer funds to them as long as strings are attached if possible.

I’d really love to see them open and be successful, but no more city funds without some sort of metrics or pullback mechanisms if we do decide to give more funds.
