It was a crucial win over the side considered India's closest competitors for top spot in Group Two and Rohit Sharma's men are long odds-on to follow up with victory over the Netherlands in Sydney.

The Dutch lost their Super 12s opener by nine runs to Bangladesh and could have a tough time of taming India's top order.

Virat Kohli produced a white-ball innings for the ages against Pakistan, compiling an unbeaten 82 from 53 balls to keep India in the hunt when they looked down and out, and he could also be instrumental at the SCG.

Kohli hit six fours and four sixes in that memorable knock and he also cleared the ropes in his side's warm-up win over Australia earlier this month.

At 8-13 the India superstar represents excellent value to hit at least one maximum against a fairly timid Netherlands attack.

Another world-class batsman already in the groove at the T20 World Cup is Quinton de Kock, who starred in South Africa's Super 12 opener against Zimbabwe.

In a rain-affected encounter, South Africa had been set a target of 64 from seven overs and made a cracking start to the chase as De Kock hit 47 off just 18 deliveries, only for the umpires to call the game off three overs into the Proteas' innings.

South Africa will have been immensely frustrated to have had the chance of victory taken out of their hands but De Kock's performance should inspire confidence ahead of their next contest with Bangladesh.

Bangladesh bowled the Netherlands out for 135 in their Super 12 opener but their attack could have a much tougher time of it against a South Africa batting unit stacked with quality.

But punters shouldn't ignore the obvious and De Kock looks a decent wager at 8-11 to register at least three boundaries.

He hit eight fours against Zimbabwe in that blistering knock, having registered nine in the three matches against India recently.

With scores of 69, 68 and 47 in his last three T20 internationals, he is a man in form and heads the South Africa top runscorer market at 16-5.
