It allows brands to sell directly to Instagram users who can shop and check out within the social app itself.  And with the IGTV platform for long-form videos, it is turning out to become more of a YouTube rival.

More On Derek Blasberg

YouTube has hired Derek Blasberg, who was previously the host of CNN Style and a Vanity Fair subscriber, as the new head of fashion and beauty partnerships.  Blasberg has encouraged collaborations between top creators and brands in line to promote the profiles of the brands and the YouTube stars. The YouTube Fashion option can be found on YouTube's homepage and also in the mobile app. So instead of subscribing to the individual creators, you can now directly subscribe to the category itself.
