Live news experience takes center stage on election night for The Washington Post - The Washington Post

The Washington Post today announced an expanded, dynamic 2022 midterm elections experience with deep reporting that will inform readers and contextualize election results from around the country as votes are tallied on November 8 and beyond. Follow special live video programming helmed by anchors and correspondents in seven states, on-the-ground reporting and live updates from nearly 60 journalists across the country and an innovative election model to engage users.
“Our coverage will be urgent, revelatory and authoritative, drawing from the deep expertise of our Politics, Democracy and America staffs and the real-time reporting of dozens of journalists deployed on the ground throughout the country,” said National Editor Matea Gold. “Readers will be able to follow along in real time as we document the experiences of Americans going to the polls and monitor challenges to the democratic process, and they will find analysis and context to help them quickly understand and interpret the results as they come in.”
The Post will power up its election model on Tuesday, making it available to readers for the first time in a midterm election. This model, which the Elections team has been refining and advancing for three years, captures and contextualizes key House, Senate and Governor races with demographic data on the electorate, as well as trends from previous elections, providing detailed looks at competitive races that will key to the control of Congress.
Sophisticated graphics and new data visualizations will help illuminate the state of specific races. These visuals will accompany world-class reporting and live analysis from the largest campaign team in newsroom history and diverse perspectives and commentary from the Opinions staff.
The Post will experiment with Google AMP for Email on election night, delivering breaking politics news alerts directly to readers’ inboxes and ensuring live, up-to-date race highlights are available whenever the email is opened.
