As the heat continues to rise, Entergy is expecting record-breaking power usage across the South.
The power company said it's normal for higher usage in extremely cold or hot weather.
But because so much of the country is experiencing record heat for this time of year, it could impact demand on our nation's power grid.
Entergy recommends customers be conservative, when possible, to avoid higher bills. "We really encourage customers to follow efficiency tips to keep the rising natural gas prices and high temperatures from affecting your bill as much as it would otherwise," said Mara Hartmann, with Entergy Mississippi.
Entergy's biggest tip is to set the thermostat at 78 degrees because you will see an increase of 15% for each degree under that temperature.
