Mumbai news Highlights: Amruta Fadnavis, the wife of Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis who also holds the home portfolio, requested the government to withdraw the traffic clearance vehicle provided to her as part of her security detail.
Her request came after The Indian Express reported that the State Intelligence Department, which reports to the Maharashtra Home Department, recently allotted a ‘traffic clearance vehicle’ along with a security upgrade from X to Y+ with escort to Amruta Fadnavis.
Former Mumbai Mayor Kishori Pednekar was questioned by the police for two-and-a-half hours on Tuesday regarding a complaint accusing her of illegally occupying six flats in a Worli SRA (Slum Rehabilitation Authority) project and forging signatures of a true beneficiary of the scheme.
This is the second time Pednekar has been questioned over the issue.
She was earlier quizzed for 15 minutes by the Dadar Police on Friday.
The SRA also issued a show cause notice to Pednekar, her brother, her son, and three allottees of the SRA apartments in Gomata housing colony, asking for an explanation by November 9, according to Kirit Somaiya, Bharatiya Janata Party ( BJP ) leader and complainant in the case, who issued a public statement in the matter on Tuesday morning.
Maharashtra state women's commission served a notice to right wing leader Sambhaji Bhide after he told a female journalist at Mantralaya to apply bindi on her forehead and refused to speak to her unless she did so.
In its notice, the commission has asked Bhide to explain his actions.
A three-year-old girl fell unconscious while playing in the kids zone of a shopping mall in suburban Ghatkopar and later died, a police official said.
The cause of her death was not immediately known, he said.
According to the Pant Nagar police station official, the girl had come to Neelyog Mall with her family members.
She was playing in the kids zone of the mall along with other children when she suddenly fell unconscious.
The girl's family members and mall staffers immediately took her to a nearby hospital where she was declared dead, he said. The Mumbai Police have registered an FIR against four Muslim clerics for allegedly hurting sentiments of the Shia community, an official said.
Based on a complaint by a Mumbai-based man, the J J Marg police on Tuesday registered the case against the four accused hailing from Lucknow, Hyderabad, Chennai and Kashmir, he said.
The complainant claimed that one of the accused had in September supported a Pakistan-based cleric as well as hurt the Shia community sentiments, the official said.
The complainant also charged the other three accused with hurting the religious sentiments and speaking against the nation, he said.

A vacation bench of Justices N R Borkar and Kamal Khata was hearing two petitions filed by the Indian Hotel and Restaurant Association as well as Association of Progressive Retail Liquor Vendors against a notification issued by the Maharashtra state excise department on October 18 prohibiting sale of liquor from November 1 to 3 (day of election) and on November 6 (counting and declaration of results).

On Tuesday, Akshay Soye a personnel from the Railway Protection Force's Crime Wing saved the life of a child who fell from a running local train on platform no 2 of Mankhurd railway station on the harbour line.
The child could have gone under the train.
Seeing her child fall, the mother tried to get off the train and fell on the platform.
She too was saved as seen in the video.
