Nov 5, 2022 ELKINS , With only a handful of days remaining until the 2022 General Election, Randolph County Clerk Brenda Wiseman gave a voting update to the county commission during its regular meeting this week at the James F.

Cain Courthouse Annex.

Wiseman reminded those in attendance that the final day for early voting will be today.

Polls will be open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. today at the Wees Annex on Randolph Avenue in Elkins, and at the Russell Memorial Public Library in Mill Creek.

Wiseman said the turnout during the 10-day early voting period has been steady this election.

As of Thursday afternoon, close to 2,000 residents had voted early in Randolph County. “During a presidential election year we would have had more people turnout for early voting,” Wiseman said. “But the number we’ve had this year is more than I thought it would be.” Wiseman said the County Clerk’s Office will be handing out election supplies to the poll workers Monday afternoon. “They will pull up on the sidewalk here at the courthouse and we will take the supplies out to their cars,” Wiseman said. “And that will be from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m.” Voters can head out to the polls and cast their ballots as early as 6:30 a.m. on Tuesday morning, and the polls will remain open until 7:30 p.m. “If someone isn’t sure where they need to go to vote, they can call our office and we can tell them what precinct they are in and where they need to go,” Wiseman said. “We will be opening at 5 a.m. on Election Day to answer any questions someone may have.” Wiseman said the votes would be tallied after the polls close on Tuesday, and noted the results will be available later that night. “The results are going to be announced in the courtroom on election night and the public is welcome to come to that if they would like,” Wiseman said. “And then we will have the canvas on Nov. 14 in the county commission meeting room beginning at 9 a.m.

The public is invited to come to that as well.” According to a press release sent out from the office of Mac Warner, West Virginia’s secretary of state, it takes close to 8,750 poll workers and election officials to host a statewide election.

Warner and members of his staff will be traveling the state Tuesday, monitoring polling locations in all 55 counties. “Voting in person is still the most popular way for West Virginia voters to cast a ballot,” Warner said in the release. “West Virginia voters have one of the highest confidence levels in the nation when it comes to election security.
