Pittsburgh police said a body was pulled from the Allegheny River Wednesday.
Police said they were called to river near the 10th Street bypass after a passerby spotted what they thought was a body in the water.
River Rescue officers retrieved an individual who was face down in the water.
Medics determined the person was dead.
The person's identity was not released.
The manner of death was also not released.
Detectives from the city's major crimes unit are investigating.
