BJP demands CBI probe into allegations of attempts to buy MLAs On Wednesday night, Telangana Police swooped down on a farmhouse in Aziz Nagar, on the outskirts of Hyderabad.

Very soon, media cameras followed suit.

Found inside the farmhouse were four TRS MLAs and three others.

Though there is no official statement on the cash seized, media reports quoting unnamed sources pegged it at around Rs 15 crore.

According to the FIR, the four ruling party MLAs, Rega Kantha, B.

Harshvardhan Reddy, G.

Balraju, and Pilot Rohit Reddy, were lured by the three accused, Ramachandra Bharathi of Faridabad, D.

Simhayaji of Tirupati and Nandakumar, a businessman from Hyderabad.

The complainant, MLA Rohit Reddy, alleged that he was offered Rs 100 crore and others Rs 50 crore each by the trio to switch sides to the BJP.

Cyberabad Police Commissioner Stephen Ravindra, who reached the spot at night, told media persons that they acted at the behest of the complaint of the MLA and caught the accused red-handed.

The farmhouse belongs to MLA Rohit Reddy.

These allegations come ahead of the Munugode constituency bypoll, which has turned into a battle of prestige for both, the BJP and the TRS.

The three accused were arrested and the four MLAs were let off after their statements were recorded.

The videos of the scenes inside the farmhouse went viral.

On social media, the pictures of the three accused with politicians were widely shared.

One of them was seen posing with top TRS leaders.

The other two were seen with local and national BJP leaders in photos.

A war of words ensued between the BJP and TRS on the issue.

TRS leaders accused the BJP of trying to poach their MLAs to destabilise the state government and spoil the plans of Chief Minister K.

Chandrashekar Rao to campaign on the national stage.

The BJP accused the TRS of staging a late-night scripted drama to divert attention from the possible loss in the upcoming byelection.

The party further claimed that the accused are close to the TRS and demanded a CBI investigation or a probe by a sitting judge into the case.

It is not immediately known if the three accused are associated with any party in an official capacity.

The TRS social media trended with the hashtag #Telangananotforsale, while BJP supporters used the hashtag #KCRFlopDramaShow.

The state BJP approached the High Court requesting a CBI inquiry into the issue. 📣 The Week is now on Telegram.
